This weekend, we’ve got a card at Brazil. DraftKings has some decent contests out there for this Fight Night card, and this can be rare for these free ones. The main tourney is the $8 entry and pays $20k to 1st. That’s the principal GPP I’ll be chasing this week. As always, I’m in the 3-entry max and only entry GPPs as well. But this week DraftKings has two competitions for trips out to Vegas to see the McGregor vs Khabib battle. Fights all, hotel, and flight paid for. The floor seats contest is a $33 entrance and the non-floor seats competition is only a $15 entry. I am going to have to take a few shots in that too. Also, DraftKings simply released a contest for UFC 299 that is a $10 entry having a massive $100,000 to 1st place. That is by far the greatest prize we’ve seen in DFS MMA, so let’s build a bankroll this weekend so we can take a few additional shots at the $100k. With that said, here are a Couple of plays I like this week as well as my fade of the week:
Money Game play of the week — Livia Renata Souza ($9,600)
Livia Souza is your safest win on the card and that I think she gets this fight ended early. This is where I’m starting my money LUs this week. Only give me the -1100 favorite who’s being fed up an easy win , for my cash games. I really do like a great deal of the top favorites with this particular card, I simply would be the most shocked when Souza lost. I think she is fine in both formats, but she will probably be chalky in GPPs, therefore cash games are the best place to get your Souza investment nowadays. Take this triumph, then find others and you should be good in cash games.
GPP play of the week — Charles Oliveira ($9,400)
I’m a big Charles”Do Bronx” Oliveira enthusiast, and he has a few of my own favorites in UFC history. I think we can see another awesome one here. This fight seems simple to call. Do Bronx will start looking for the early takedown and if he can get it then he probably receives a 1st round sub. If that happens he must lock up a strong 100 points and I am pretty confident in being the results of the fight, so that is why he is my GPP play of this week. He’s also my GPP play of the week, rather than my Cash play of this week for a motive. If he can’t get the takedown(s) early, then he’ll likely stop and get completed himself together with strikes. I really don’t enjoy that risk of a reduced floor because of my own money LU, therefore I prefer Souza there. But in GPPs I like saving the $200 and moving down to Do Bronx.
Underdog drama of this week — Eryk Anders ($7,600)
I would like Anders a lot more if he was not taking this fight on short notice, and when it was not in Brazil. However he does have a very clear path to success here and that’s by knocking outside Santos who doesn’t possess a great chin. Anders could also opt for takedowns in this struggle and he can win with some hard GNP as well. At $7.6k he will almost surely end up on the winning LU if he’s ready to get the KO. This is the major event, so he will have 5 rounds to work with. I do think that is a solid matchup for Anders, but he must be aggressive and never hang out to the outside. If he hangs out on the exterior as long Santos will eat him up with kicks and it might be a short night for Anders. I am going to select him to get the win here as an underdog in Brazil and I think he has it completed in the first two rounds with a KO. That will easily pay off his $7.6k salary and it will win you a GPP if you’re able to get your other five spots correct also.
Fade of the week — Sam Alvey ($9,200)
Sam Alvey is always a fade for me. I wrote him up as my fade of this week on here, I was quite wrong and he scored over 100 points. If that happens again here, then so be it. However, I refuse to rely on an early KO win to cover off a $9.2k salary by a guy who doesn’t throw several strikes. At $9.2k I want at least 92 points out of Alvey if I roster him and the only way get gets that’s using a 1st round KO win. That could happen here against a 42-year-old Lil Nog, but I am not willing to spend my money in it.
